This album is doomed.

At a certain point I was convinced it wasn't going to come out. In contrast with the easy and relaxed mood that pervaded the genesis of previous Phicus albums, the road to Redox was a really tortuous one. There was a certain tension floating in the studio during the recording, with disagreements regarding the material, mixing and mastering... then some light shone on this weird and maligned offspring in the shape of a good offer to release a vinyl edition of it. Further adjustments were made, more mastering, artwork, more money spent, more work put into it...of course, for several reasons the project was delayed, sinking its dirty feet deeper into the mud. At some point, the record was just buried.

And I won’t even mention the pandemic and the convulsed personal situation of the members of the band during that time. Somehow all this fits the record. Our darkest and noisiest. The demented sibling to the more serene Ni. In my humble opinion, Phicus at their prime. We never again reached this equilibrium of brutal force, surgical precision and timbric exuberance.
